Thanksgiving Day Chores

The sun is shining again this morning. Last night it looked like winter was coming as it was overcast and then cooled right off and rained! What a contrast to the past week. However, this morning it is back to the same old thing! Sunshine!

On my way home from Calgary yesterday, I stopped in Red Deer for Tim Horton's drive-thru and while idling there, I noticed I had some 'steam' coming out from under my hood. At least I hoped it was steam. I pulled over (after I got my Tim's) and sure enough it looks like I have a crack in the upper most part of my radiator. Fortunately, my hubby had called me (while I was in the lineup) and when I called him back to tell him my misfortune, he told me what to do. Oh, it's nice to have a man around the house (or car)!! I picked up some 'pre-mixed anti-freeze' like my hubby said and to my good fortune, a man walked by at the same time that I was trying to get my radiator cap off. He offered his help. Now that was gentlemanly of him!  I made it home without incident, and now we have to get it fixed. Thankfully, it is high enough up on the rad that I am not overheating. It does not even show on my temperature gauge. Still...it needs to be fixed. Checking out the prices on the internet it looks like a couple hundred $$ for the radiator and likely the same for the labor! I won't say for sure until we check it out. Hopefully it is fixable. I don't want to start looking at cars again.

Today, Thanksgiving Day, we are going to make beet soup. John brought home a number of fresh beets and carrots from the farm so we will utilize them well. We did this last year too. He went out to buy some pork ribs so we can add them to the mixture. Ummmmm good.

We have decided to make the trip (a quick one) to Vancouver for my Aunt's funeral on Friday as well as having a visit again with our daughter and family. We will drive. It should be beautiful even though most of the leaves have fallen but it will still be nice to have some 'alone time' with my hubby.

Better get back to the beets. I am wearing rubber gloves this time as my fingertips were a hot pink for a number of days last year.  It looked like they were overheating too!

We are always looking for some big impressive moments when God intervenes in our lives. However, you may have just had a divine intervention when that man offered his help. I wonder how many times we will be overwhelmed in heaven when we see a replay of our lives and discover that God has truly been involved in our everyday lives.
