Ah, the smell of beets cooking in the kitchen. When you walk in, you would think we were in the 'old country' (according to what I have been told about the old country)! Anyway, the sun is shining and the beets were cooking. The kitchen was busy with the two of us, cutting up beets, carrots, cabbage and pork ribs. Ummmmmm good!
Once we got everything under control and all the ingredients into the two big cooking pots, I got started washing the bedroom windows while John got busy watching his football games! For me, it just felt like the right time to do a little cleaning.
Once the beets were done and it was about 1:30 or so, we decided to try them and have a bit of a late lunch. Absolutely wonderful! Oh, how I wished we had a little rye bread or a fresh bun! Oh well. We saw our neighbors working in their yard so we invited them in for a bowl of borscht! They loved it too. What a great afternoon.
I got the windows done, and even got John to wash the outside bedroom, living room and dining room windows while I did the inside. I guess I must have got an extra bit of 'vim and vigor' after that bowl of soup. Just like in the old country!! The women worked hard!
Well, now that it is all done, I think it's time for a little JAVA and relaxin'. I wonder what's on t.v.?
