I feel like I am one day behind on everything as I had to work yesterday and today. I am headed off to the Prayer Works event tonite but here's what took place last night.
Our church is fairly large, so they had provided a map with room numbers and locations for 11 rooms dedicated to different venues of prayer. Once we all were settled in the auditorium to start, the pastor shared what would take place during the evening and then we were free to choose where we wished to go. (I had already been asked to help out in the Prayer Room for those who would come to ask for prayer - something like our Sunday morning ministry time - so I was already committed.) I would have liked the opportunity to visit the different rooms but feel I was able to provide an essential service to many people for the evening. We were asked to return to the main auditorium at about 8:10 to complete the evening with some comments and prayer.
The main auditorium has three large projector screens and they were showing different scripture verses. If you remained in here, you were asked to meditate and pray about these specific scriptures. It was a very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. In the Cafe (where I was) there was a ministry team from Stephen Ministries who were there to pray for concerns and needs. The lights were low, we had some music playing softly and we had tables with 4 chairs to accommodate 9 prayer 'stations' comfortably. It was busy the entire evening with people waiting at different times for an opening.
One of the rooms was for prayer for the nations of the world. It listed all of our global missionary efforts with the names and pictures of those we support. There was opportunity to pray here and leave a message of encouragement as well.
The Fireside Room was used as a prayer room with music and song for those who enjoyed singing choruses and hymns. Another room was called 'stories of answered prayer' room. It was filled with over 150 sheets of paper telling individual's stories about answered prayer from people in our church. That was interesting and goose bumpy! You could also walk through the office area and the pastors offices and pray for them (he encouraged everyone to do that) and upstairs there was a Communion Room for those wanting to do so. One room had a number of directories of our members and we were asked to pray for whoever we felt led to - say 10 families at random - or anyone specific we chose. Another room had a Cross in it and there were pieces of paper for you to write down something you needed to 'leave at the cross' eg. burdens of some sort. Another room was filled with candles where you could light a candle in memory of someone or simply say a prayer for someone. The last room was for you to write a note about 'what prayer means to you'.
The whole evening was very moving. There were only about 500 people there walking about softly talking, many praying, seated in the foyer and different rooms. It was very encouraging and uplifting and soul provoking - if you get my meaning!
Anyway, looking forward to what is on tonite. Not sure what the outline is but I am sure it will be interesting!
Again...prayer works!

Wow! I see what you mean by the week's creative "presentation"of prayer. I'm sure everyone left completely moved since each person could find some meaningful way to pray and learn more about prayer. Keep us informed what took place tonigh!
