Hippy Days Craze

I mentioned yesterday about the snow but forgot to mention that it was 'hippy day' at school as well. The two older kids were supposed to dress in 'hippy style'. Remember what that was like? hair bands, vests, long broomstick skirts, floral, patched jeans.  Need I go on?  Anyway, Alicia had a blue t-shirt which had the peace sign on it and decided to throw on a number of her coloured beaded necklaces. She looked cute. We had a headband for her (a long scarf) but she chose not to wear it. Josh took one of his white t-shirts, turned it inside out and drew on it with washable ink - the peace sign, words of love, etc. He opted for the headband and felt 'with it'.

It is hard to believe that the kids are growing up (so fast). I remember being in Grade 5 especially (which he is) and all the feelings and emotions that went with it. Strange that I don't recall Grade 4 much though. Grade 2 was a good year but I guess Grade 3 was in transition or something because I don't recall it at all!  Could be that my mom cut my long hair into a short bob and fashioned bangs where before I had none, just before we moved out west to Alberta from Ontario. Grade 4, I started in a new school with new 'soon-to-be friends' in a totally different city & province. Life in the Air Force was always in transition But that's another story.

Anyway, here are a few pics of the 'other kids' in their outfits.

Another picture, Gramma?
