Hot Hot Hot

The weather this week has been very hot. I think it is a record having the low 30's the past few days and 34C yesterday (44 with the humidex). I am so glad that we did the sanding and staining of our deck 'before' the heat wave. I guess you could say we were doing it 'on the cusp' as it was warm but not hot. Friday night we sanded and were able to return the equipment in time to avoid paying the full 24 hour rental! Saturday morning, we stained (as the heat began). Thankfully, it dried fast with the sunshine but I only got a second coat on the lower deck and I think that will have to do for this year!

Sanded and ready for staining
The lower deck gets all the direct sun and so was easier to remove the old stain as it almost removed itself! The upper deck is covered so was more difficult. In fact, we didn't get all of it removed down to the cedar itself but it does look a lot better. I guess that would be a full 24 hour sanding job so it will just have to wait for another year!

Stained and looking a lot cleaner!

With all this heat, the flowers and vegetation are enjoying a lot of growth. Our cedars love it. We have been faithful in watering too so they are getting the best of both worlds!

A nice view from the deck.

Don't know the name of these but they are purple!!
Well, back to the work that goes on 'inside' the house now - especially since it is so hot 'outside'.
