We had a great time of visiting our daughter and family and of course celebrated John's birthday too but alas, we had to head for home.
We took off on Sat morning and intended on overnighting somewhere and it did turn out to be Valemount. However, just outside of Hope we ran into or met up with my brother David & Myrna once more and shared a coffee together. We chatted about the funeral and then we took off. They too will be heading south for a few months on Monday. Ah, what a life they have!!! That goes the same for my other brother who also heads south for the winter months! What did we do wrong???!!!

We tried going a different route this time and got off the Coquihalla and headed north to Cache Creek but never made it all the way. The scenery was unbelievable and the roads were great but it seemed to be taking 'forever' so we hit the closest side road at Spences Bridge and headed back to Merrit. What would have taken an hour from Hope to Merrit became 3 hours for us! Oh well, we did want to see the backcountry! We had never come in from the backside of Merrit so that was an experience too. We always wondered what was back there. Very nice ranching country.

Coquihalla Hwy near Kamloops |
We saw remnants of the snow in the Coquihalla around Kamloops but the day was sunny and warm. Beautiful for driving.
By the time we got Valemount, we were both getting tired so decided to rest for the night. My picture is a little blurry as we were moving fast! But...doesn't the moon look great against that dark blue sky?!

The moon at night is big and bright... |
Checked into our usual motel and found that a lot of the eating places were closed. Guess the season is over now! Had a good night's rest, and John was able to watch the Eskimos win one! We were up early and able to enjoy the sun rising over the mountains. It was only 1 Celcius! Frost on the ground but beautiful.

So, we are home safe and sound. Also, we are happy to be home. It is nice to go and visit but oh so nice to return home too. The sun is shining here also - the end of a wonderful weekend!
