Cleaning

Blue sky and sunshine - wonderful (even if it is -9 C). So nice to have the sunshine around for most of the day now! Also, looking forward to spring, summer and camping! Will need to plan out a few confirmed dates and make reservations and then it is just 'spur of the moment' and I hope we do a lot of it this year!

Updating my computer and cleaning up old stuff. Not a real interesting day but definitely needed!  Hope everyone is accomplishing just what they wanted to do today! Good luck on that!

It's a 'Golden' Day!

What a day it has been. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and the Canadian Girls won GOLD in Olympic Hockey! It doesn't get any better than that!!! End of comment!

More Snow

I was looking out the window and thinking things were starting to melt away compared to what we used to have and what starts happening???? you guessed it! It has started snowing (again)!!  Although they say we are not getting as much as they will to the south and west of us - those light flurries coming straight down still means that there is an accumulation coming!! Right now at 10 a.m., it is -4 C.  They say we will only have about 1 cm but still... the longer I watch, the more it piles up. I guess my only solution is to stop watching!! I may have to go do some therapy - ironing clothes in the basement, away from any windows!

Special Birthday

Well, we are home again and trying to get back into routine. A late night arrival and early morning up and at it to do a few errands and then off to Bonnyville to visit mom and celebrate her 105th birthday!

After cake and juice, we settled in for 'photoshoots' and then general conversation. It is hard when you don't hear well and the eyesight is not what it used to be. She knew everyone there... was there... because they are her family and love her! That's the main thing. It is so much better "one-on-one" so she can see and hear you 'up close and personal' but even so, she was happy to have everyone celebrate with her! They had done the same thing at lunch at the Lodge for her, so she was a bit tired when we all arrived to do it all over again!!!

Anyway, back to our normal routine (whatever that is) but I am not enjoying this "cooler and no sun right now" weather! I miss my sunshine, sand and surf! Next year, we may have to consider e-x-t-e-n-d-i-n-g our vacation by a few extra weeks!!

Nevertheless...Happy Birthday mom....105 and counting!!

Going Home

The alarm is set for 4:08 and we should be up and gone by 5 am! The road to Honolulu is very busy in the morning and when you add roadwork to the mix, you end up with 'time delays'! So, we hope to 'miss the rush' and be there in time to WAIT!!

It's been a beautiful two weeks with wonderful weather and a time of relaxing and good friends. Can't wait now till next year to do it all over again!

Sunset!

Countdown

It must have something to do with being a female as we have been on vacation for two weeks and now getting ready to head home, when... 'what to my wondering eyes should appear but"... all that dirty laundry that I think should be washed before the security people get a look at it!!

There's something about the routine of sorting clothes, isolating the stains and giving extra cleaning to them, and then sifting and packing items into the washing machine. Thankfully, we have one in our room. All the piles are sorted out by colour and it is simply a matter of time until they will all be washed, folded and back into their suitcase!

Shortly before the laundry detail...I washed dishes by hand and set the clean ones on the rack! Ahhhhh...routine! It's nice to have it. So nice to go away and be 'out of routine' but then when you have it again...it feels good!

Not looking forward to going home to -20 C and more snow (they say) but on the other hand, we feel pretty fortunate to be able to take off in the cold winter months for a number of weeks to enjoy, heat, sand and surf! It really is a luxury and we have enjoyed every moment. We will miss the beauty of it, the warmth of it and the relaxation. Something to keep in mind when we are home and 'under pressure again to 'do, do, do'!

It doesn't get much better than this!

Beautiful!

It was an extra ordinary evening tonight. There was a bit of cloud on the horizon - although it seemed invisible to the naked eye - until I went to take a picture of the sunset which clouded the sun and caused this beautiful picture instead! We have been here many times before but never got these fantastic pictures of orange pink and yellow. Truly amazing this time.

Today we were up at 5 am and off by 6 am to drop off Tiffany at the airport who was headed home to Edmonton. Afterwards, we went to the 7 am service at Hope Church and then went to Starbucks downtown to grab a java and sat on the pier and 'people watched' for a while. Then we headed east and toured  bit and then by noon we were headed home. Already it was a long day! By the time we got home we had a quick bite, down to the pool and then in to watch a bit of tv and basically watch the waves, the sun and the sky! That's what holidaying is all about!

Tonite we had leftovers at our place. Spagettii and meat sauce, served first with cheese and crackers and then with salad and then the spaghetti. A nice evening of conversation with friends and to bed by 10 pm! Now that's holidaying!
