I was just thinking of the summer coming up and the camping that we will soon be doing. This long weekend has us doing a bit of camping but not the kind that we usually do. We will be with lots of people. It will be lots of fun but it will be different than our usual. Rest and relax, quiet and reading won't be on the list!

Here's a reminder of the ice on Slave Lake when we were there on the May long weekend. It was beautiful and the weather was good for us there too. Summer had not arrived but we had a good time.

There was lots of ice on the beach but it was pretty to look at and it was melting.

Well, I need to organize the trailer again so hope the sunshine lasts!

It's Raining - What's New?

We have had rainfall in Edmonton but it is nothing like what has been experienced in southern Alberta these past few days. I guess that goes for southern Saskatchewan and into Manitoba as well. As the expression goes, there is always someone better off AND worse off than you. That is playing out in the weather this week.

Although Edmonton is watching the river levels in the North Saskatchewan River and expecting to see a rise of 3+ meters this weekend, it hopefully will not be anything like what is happening in southern Alberta.

Last week, we cancelled our camping trip as the weather was so poor (rain, rain and more rain) and throw in a tornado as well! This week it has been raining but every other day the sun comes out! It will be sunny in the morning and rain in the afternoon or the other way around. It makes for great cloud formations and sky watching but not great camping weather!

Next week we are heading to Alberta Beach for a weekend of camping but like St. Albert's Rainmaker Rodeo in June each year, the usual prediction of rain for the July long weekend will likely come to pass! Hopefully this year it will be different (not sure why except we are going there)! Rain or sunshine, we will be there as summer is too short to wait for the perfect day and our trailer is beckoning to be taken away from the driveway!

Rain

Rethinking our camping plans for this week as it continues to rain. Most of the week does not look good. Rain, rain, and more rain....

Guests

We are having visitors for supper and overnight. John's sister and her daughter are heading up to see his mom for a visit. It has been close to two years since she has been to visit her mom. Time flies. Although they were here in January for her husband's memorial service, they didn't drive up to see her. Too much snow and not accustomed to winter roads. It has been a hard year for them.

It had been so nice this week and of course today it is overcast with possible rain overnight. We were hoping to be outside BBQing and enjoying the deck. I guess we can still enjoy the deck as it is covered but...weatherwise, not as warm. It will still be a nice visit.

Last night we were over at friends in celebration of their daughter graduating from the faculty of Medicine! Quite an accomplishment! Seems like only yesterday and she was a little girl! Now she is being addressed as Doctor! (I wanted to talk to her about my hand but I guess the timing was inappropriate! )

Specialists

I finally got my hand specialist appointment for June 20th. Of course, I did have to phone to find out who, where and when. To continue the saga, I decided to sit and wait in emergency and have a face-to-face with a real live doctor. It was about a four hour wait but I eventually did get to talk to one. He confirmed I had a fracture (broken hand) and that all I was doing was good and thankfully I had an appointment with a specialist and he was sure that another x-ray would likely be taken to confirm healing. Only then, should I begin physiotherapy. Oh, happy days...I finally had confirmation of what I already knew but it was good to hear it from a professional.
