Ok, well, so much for vacations. Ours is over. A long day returning from Hawaii and sitting in airplanes and airports. I guess you have to go a long way to get away from this snow. We got home late Wed night and by the time you go through your mail, check things out and find your pj's, well...it is the wee hours of the morning. Fortunately, I did not work until 11 am but I was still scrambling to get ready and get there on time! Energy came simply from being back home AND at work ~ all on the same day! I would have gone to bed early last night but I had to watch Grey's Anatomy at 10 pm as I find out that I cannot watch it online@ abc.com the next day due to trading agreements or something or other for not being IN the USA (how do THEY know that??) but OUTSIDE it's regulatory area. I had been watching it the next day in Hawaii as we had always gone to bed before it was on (I never could figure out the channels on the tv). However, we were IN the USA being in Hawaii!! I guess if that's my biggest problem, we are doing ok.
It is -12 C but very sunny with blue skies so I am not complaining. We had a great vacation and I guess it is 'back to the grind' although that sounds very pessimistic, doesn't it! I don't mean it that way though. Looking forward to another day at work today and back to the grind at my other job next week! Wow, it is almost March already!

A picture says 1000 words
I took a neat photo with my camera of the setting sun. I took the first one .. which was spectacular...(even if I do say so myself) and then I used the sepia setting and took the same photo shot again. The sunset was brilliant so it looks in the natural setting as it burned my lens but it didn't. The sepia has a nice look to it too!
Just as spectacular but with sepia setting!

More of the same
There is nothing like the sunset in Hawaii. I think I have said that before. They are all the same - but different! I love the colours - even in this picture you can't see all of them as they blend together but it truly is spectacular!
This picture was taken after it had set and the sky shows a total different blend. Both are spellbinding, don't you think?
Feb 15 was my mother-in-law's 104th birthday. Imagine that....1909? Where were YOU in 1909? It's even hard to say 1900. I used to wonder how we were going to say 2000, Feb 15, 2000, or 2000 and 1 or 2000, ten. Wierd eh? Now here it is 2013. We say it easy enough. It's just amazing to see that she is still here with us and still looking and feeling so good. Maybe we all can live this long. We asked her "How does it feel to be 104 years old?" and she said "It feels like I'm 104 years old". Guess you can take that anyway you want to!
There is a big surfing competition today just up the way from us so we may walk over there to see how things are going. I am sure it will be packed as it is the weekend!

Life is Good
I think one of the best things about the place we are in is the view - especially of the sunsets. It really doesn't get any better than this. I wish I could post ALL of the pics but I can't. They are all beautiful but some just take your breath away!
It's hard to believe it is the same picture - just a few minutes apart. The top one is the final as it sinks into the water. You can almost hear the 'whosh' at it is extinguished by the sea. Well, sort of in my imagination! You can definitely see the sky light up in bright oranges and yellow! The bottom one shows the blue/black of the water as the sun is gone, set, sleeping until the morrow!!
Each sunset is different. Absolutely beautiful!. We were out for dinner the night before and we were on the main floor level. I forgot my camera. The sunset there was different from ground level. The people we ate with said they would send me a picture of it and I will post it and you will see that it looks different than from the 14th floor where we are! Still beautiful but different!
Weather is wonderful, sunsets are gorgeous, not a thing in the world to complain about. Life is good.

We have certainly been enjoying the beautiful weather. While on the beach yesterday (it was so hot) and then a light rainshower came through and cooled us off. Perfect! I did not have my camera with me but it was a feast for the eyes as the sun filtered down through all the raindrops. Definitely cooled things off and settled everything down. The sunset was amazing!!! It doesn't get much better than this.

Clouds in the dark
I couldn't resist this picture of the clouds and the sky after the sun has set. It is absolutely beautiful. Same night but the sun is gone. Still...it's beautiful, magical.
Feeling Good
What a beautiful day it was. Strange, how even if it is windy or not to your specification, it is still a beautiful day. It is not -30 C below with snow and wind. We do not have to dress up in overcoats, hats and mitts, wear boots or shovel snow. The only thing we are pushing is the sand with our toes! Very nice. We did a lot of 'beach walking' today. It is not easy. It is delightful, watching the waves and getting caught up in them at various places along the shore, but basically, just walking along and digging our toes into the sand, exercising our calves and toe muscles. After living in orthotics for 3 years, my legs and toes are in shock! Balance has been somthing I have lost these past 3 years but I think I am developing it again. I have not been wearing my orthos and instead have been walking barefoot in the sand and wearing sandals. My calves are talking to me right now and my toes are screaming at me in the middle of the night, but besides these voices in my ears, things seem to be getting back to my 'new' normal.
We watched an absolutely beautiful sunrise tonite. It doesn't get much better than this. Blue sky, pink & yellow sunset, good friends, a glass of wine and great food. Gosh, God has blessed us beyond measure (if I can say that without sounding crass).

Sunny & warm
What a beautiful day! We arrived here yesterday and were bagged. Went to bed by 8:30 pm and up by 5:30 a.m. A nice hot cup of coffee and sitting on the deck looking out on the ocean. The moon was still bright. Can't beat it. Going to be a nice day. Could sit all day and just watch the waves.
